The 4 P's serve as the foundational values of FYI's youth programming and original, participatory theatre work.
FYI's 4 P's Pedagogy Training: Power
Participatory theatre interrupts "traditional" educator/learner and director/actor relationships alike by striving for equity, curiosity and shared power. We acknowledge and explore our own intersectional identities and experiences affect how we show up in a room. We also challenge systems of oppression by maintaining that facilitators (often, adults) do not know all of the answers; all of us are constantly learning. Our plays, workshops, and rehearsal rooms are designed to facilitate an intentional and equal exchange of ideas.
In this training, dive into the idea and application of the concept of "Power" in artmaking, curriculum design, and community building process. In each session, we allow plenty of time for participation-based activities, collaborative making, and the opportunity to envision how our framework applies to your own contexts.
Facilitated by FYI Company Members Dionne Addai, Adia Alli and Vince Pagán.
